America250: A Lot To Be Proud Of As We Strive For A More Perfect Union

For almost all of my adult life, I have been a love your country, fear your government person.

I should add, distrust your government as well. More so on the federal level than local. The more local the representation is, the more I trust that person.


But as for America250, I am immensely proud of our history.


Be it those crazed radicals called our Founding Fathers, North Carolina’s Wright Brothers proving man can fly, over in Detroit Ford pushed the car forward as a common place item, the armed forces saving the world in WW2, how Washington, D.C, led the world during the Cold War, cures for diseases the US has discovered, Illinois based Motorola inventing the mobile phone, California and Seattle becoming ground zero for bringing the wonder of tech to us, and the giving nature of we the people that is seen both in the common person’s benevolence and in how our government rushes to help other countries in times of need, be it friend or foe.


The above is a smidge of the USA’s contributions to the world that proves this experiment is working.


I do stop at saying we are a free country.  We are not. We are a freer country. As in freer than most.


So, as We the People strive for a more perfect union within the natural messiness that comes with any democracy, I point you to the words spoken by Founding Father Patrick Henry in 1775. It was then that Mr. Henry convinced the Second Virginia Convention to prepare its militia for the Revolutionary War, ending his speech with a sentence that has echoed throughout these 250 years. “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”
