I love that the World Series has two small-market teams. When a smaller city gets to this stage in a sport, they completely embrace the team. In larger cities such as New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago, a moment like this can be swallowed up, lost in the shuffle of all that the city offers.

I hung on every pitch, for sure, but stopped my hanging to jot down some Game 1 notes. Let’s take a look around.

Hey FOX, this looks too cartoonish, too Disneyfied.

Great bat control by left fielder Chandler Simpson on his first-inning single that resulted in him scoring.

I love all the rocking back and forth that Nick Martinez does. It’s just fun to watch.

Did center fielder Jonny Deluca have it? I don't think so. Look closely, the ball appears to hit the glove. Christian Yelich tripled on this play, knocking in a run.

Great callback to Happy Days. Minus movies, news and sports programming, Happy Days was the 23rd most popular show in the fall of 1982. That year was the only other time Milwaukee was in the World Series, losing in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals.

I might be picking at nits; however, this is so silly. FOX, why make Yandy Díaz look like this when he doesn’t look like this?

This is why I generally stay away from predictions, not just in sports, in all aspects of life. We don’t know what’s happening minute to minute; I don’t know if I will live long enough to finish this sentence, let alone what’s going to happen at the end of a baseball season.

Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski had 11 days of rest leading into his Game 1 start. He pitched five innings, gave up four hits, one run, it was earned, walked one and struckout three.

William Contreras threw out two of four base burglars. Got his two ABS challenges correct and went two for three with a walk and one RBI at the plate. He is fun to watch!

The St. Louis Cardinals fingerprints were all over this game. Jon Hamm is a huge Cardinals fan; the Cardinals bested Milwaukee in their only other World Series appearance (1982). Many of the players and at least one broadcaster have Cardinal connections.

Congrats to the 43, 250 in attendance. Incredibly, the first tailgaters arrived at 8 a.m. Mil Brew radio crew said the crowd was over capacity. Thought that sounded dangerous. They were half right; seating capacity for American Family Field is 41,900, including stand-room only, it is 46,000. I'm not sure which broadcaster made the comment, so no names will be mentioned.

Enjoy Game 2!
