The FanDuel Sports Network Ohio broadcast team gave a shoutout to Daytona Tortugas catcher Alfredo Duno during the Cincinnati Reds' Sept. 16 game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jim Day: "We continue to sing the praises of Alfredo Duno, named Florida State League MVP. 19 years of age, well below the average age, in A ball, he led the league in home runs, RBI's, OPS, extra base-hits, and runs."

John Sadak, "Congrats to Duno…a 19-year-old with that power, who is an enormous human being, catcher, he had more walks than strikeouts."

Jeff Brantley, who pitched for 14 years, four with Cincinnati commented. "That is pretty impressive."

John Sadak continued emphasizing the walk-to-strikeout ratio of Mr. Duno, "In today's game?  And you know the parks in the Florida State league are enormous."

Jeff Brantley concurred, "Definitely a pitchers league."

Jim Day, "He's a really likable young man as well. Once you meet him, you're gonna really like him."

Mr. Day said that Mr. Duno was mentored during Cincinnati's January caravan by Reds catcher Jose Treviño. Among the many aspects of catching that they discussed was pitch sequencing. Mr. Day said, "Duno was all ears, just soaking it all up."

Throughout the season, the two players have stayed in touch. During the threesome's conversation, they said Reds' President of Baseball Operations, Nick Krall, told one member of the crew that the texts between the two players consist of video watching, from which Mr. Treviño provides feedback to Mr. Duno.

Alfredo Duno is in his third year of professional baseball, hitting .287 with a .920 OPS. At the beginning of the season, he was listed by MLB as the Reds' No.3 prospect and the 70th in all of baseball. The Reds website scouting report gives Mr. Duno a "plus arm from behind the plate" and "he's pretty athletic given his 6-foot-2 frame."

Duno hit .287 with 18 home runs, 81 RBIs for a Tortugas team that went all the way to the FSL Championship Series in 2025.

The scouting report continues, "The Reds don't have a catcher ahead of him in the system to block him, so he'll dictate his own pace. The first order of business is to have a full, healthy campaign in his age-19 season."

Mr. Duno did not get hurt in 2025. He played in 113 of the Daytona Tortugas' 131 games. Given that he has now played two seasons in Low-A ball, it is conceivable that Cincinnati would promote him to its High-A affiliate, the Dayton Dragons.

The three broadcasters also discussed the likelihood that Mr. Duno will get some time with the Reds during spring training.
