The killing of Charlie Kirk is a symptom of a disturbing problem that has been festering in the United States for quite some time.
Fear, if not hatred, of the other that is fomented on a daily basis by major media corporations as well as the national Democratic and Republican parties.
Major media and the two major political parties thrive on dividing the citizenry and creating fear and hatred of the other.
I am referring to CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and their ilk. Major Media get their ratings and clicks based on fear and hate. Their game is to get their viewers to shake their fist and shout, "That's right those other people are crazy!"
The Republican and Democratic parties, on the national level, get votes based on the fear of the other winning an election, and only they can save you. Plus, making sure you hate that other person by dehumanizing as much as possible.
And Charlie Kirk is dead today because of this.
Because of his political opinion, one which talking heads, writers, politicians, constantly said is a danger. Yes, an opinion is now a danger. Not an action, just the very idea that his solution is different, turned him into someone to fear and hate, and Charlie Kirk's solution, politicians would say, 'must be stopped by voting for me.'
So some moron picked up a weapon and killed him.
Judging the other as good or bad because they have either a D or R next to their name has to stop.
They are human beings who just want to work, just want to kiss their significant other, pat their dog on the head, and then see how their children are doing.
That's it.
They don't want to hurt you.
They just want to live in peace.
Like you do.
Charlie Kirk will rest in peace.
Update: Within hours of this blog, MSNBC fired Matthew Dowd for insensitive comments. And if right-wing media thinks they have the high ground, they are fooling themselves.
