At 10:30 a.m. Eastern USA, CNN reported that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have arrived at a New Yrpol City courthouse. Mr. Maduro faces weapons and drug charges.

The Morning, a New York Times email newsletter, reports: Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the U.S. did not plan to “run” Venezuela but rather that it would coerce the new leadership into favorable policies. Trump contradicted him later, saying, “We’re in charge.”

Woke up this morning to find out that once again, the U.S. is bombing another country without Congress's approval and likely for the oil.

U.S. military flies over Caracas, Venezuela.

President Donald J. Trump has said that his pressure campaign against Venezuela is about the war on drugs.

The war on drugs is as stupid as prohibition was. And equally ineffective.

All drugs should be legal and regulated like alcohol. If so, eventually, we'd reduce drug dependence to what we have with alcoholics, which is much better than what we have now.

However, Venezuela isn't about drugs. That's a ruse.

It's about the oil.

Which is fine if we had a Congress with the intestinal fortitude to either support Mr. Trump in America's bombings or not.

But they won't vote, why put their necks on the line and risk their cushy jobs, and the president will do whatever he wants.

It’s been this way for decades now. In case you missed it. The U.S. hasn’t declared war since World War 2,  yet we are constantly bombing people (AKA military strikes) even when we are not fighting a war.

Of recent vintage, we’ve gone from Bombs away Biden to Trump's blowing up Venezuelans.

Addendum: Jefferson Sanchez, a friend, from Caracas, Venezuela, now living in the U.S. offered insight into the oil and corruption situations.

Oil: The decision in Venezuela is not only about oil….When Chavez took over in ‘99, he inherited 3.5 million barrels a day; 95 percent of the exports were only 5 percent of the US imports. When Chavez started producing less oil, we started buying more from Canada. Those people who were persecuted by Chavez from the oil industry in Venezuela ended up moving to Calgary and Houston, and was the beginning of the exile of Venezuela.

Corruption:

Venezuela has been hijacked by a regime that its agenda is to destroy “el imperialismo”, the USA ..Since Chavez took over in ‘99, every decision, including selecting Maduro, has been terrible..from exposing names from regular people that work in PDVSA that voted against him, accordance with countries like Iran, Cuba, China and Russia. Chavez/Maduro has been arresting and persecuting Senators putting them in jail, some (of) them dying in there. Selling Gold in the black market with Turkey. Selling the citizenship of passports to Iraq. Expropriated business and housing from regular folks. Making agreement with US companies and stealing from them…Stealing elections…Extortion and agreement with Cartels and El Tren de Aragua, this was the tipping point with the USA. El Tren de Aragua was terrorizing countries like Chile, Peru and Ecuador….when Biden open the border it went to the USA…
