And Now It's Time To Say Goodbye To The Opinion Guy As A Show

The outro to The Opinion Guy Fun Friendly Informative states, “Show is over, close the storybook. There will be no encore.”

Well, there might be an encore, but for now, the show is over.

Why?

Money.

I posted earlier this week, “I can't spend all day on show prep if there is no money or barter in place.”

After Dashing for four hours on Tuesday and seeing my financial accounts, I realized that the day of reckoning had come.

I need to make money.

There is a lovely lady who deserves better than what I have delivered this year. Priding myself on being a person of action, something had to change.

The many hours needed to run the show simply have not paid off.  

There is a financial benefit to writing, and I will continue to do that in my spare time as I love the creativity involved. BTW, I am always open for hire.

When I moved to Florida in 2019, the idea was to work full-time and write when I could. Pretty much, as I was doing in New York. So, at the age of 62, I am not looking for a career; I am looking for a job that would be in addition to or fully replace DoorDash.

I’ve got a degree in library science, was a library professor for 15 years at a D1 school, so maybe a part-time job at a university-college opens? Then backfill money as needed Dashing and writing.

Thanks to all who have come on the show, been a panelist, authorized the use of their music (WICKED and The Verve Pipe) and watched.

The show might come back at some point. Nothing in life is forever. For instance, if someone steps up to pay me, then I would definitely do it.

I liken this to someone opening a restaurant, gets great feedback, the small group of regulars love the place; however, the entrepreneur has to spend so much time cooking, cleaning, trying new recipes that they don’t have the time to get the word out.

Likewise, I had a small group who loved being The Opinion Guy and/or watching it. However, the time to make that work meant not being able to pull together the facts I needed to monetize the show.

What I would need to go live once again is simple. I need to net $2k per month and have someone who can sell the show, leaving me to be the creative force.

If that intrigues, then by all means let’s get this done!
