Braves Clobber Phillies Look To Sweep The Opinion Guy's Series Of The Weekend
Here is an update on how The Opinion Guy’s series to watch have fared.
Atlanta v. Philadelphia
The Atlanta Braves take the first two versus the Phillies, beating them in game one on an 11th-inning walk-off single by Ha-Seong Kim. Philadelphia blew leads in the ninth, 10th and, naturally, the 11th inning.
Following Atlanta's eight-run fourth inning, the Fightless Phils didn't have to worry about blowing leads as they trudged to the finish line a 12-2 loser.
This is the final series between the two teams during the regular season. Given that, it's all but over for Philadelphia unless the Braves reenact their 2011 performance sliding right out of the playoffs and the Phillies get hot.
The Braves have made a statement; they are still in charge of the National League East. Phillies fans should worry not, as they seemed destined for the postseason anyway. Both ESPN Playoff Tracker and Fangraphs have their probability of making the playoffs between 94% and 99%.
Los Angeles Queens and New York Heights
A good rivalry will help the Women’s Pro Baseball League grow. What could be better than getting that started in its inaugural postseason between teams repping Los Angeles and New York?
Thursday night’s game one of the Semifinal Round B three-game series saw the LA Queens win in dominating fashion, 10–3. The NY Heights took game two last night, 9- 7. Game 3 is set for Monday 7 p.m. Eastern. The game is on ESPN+ in the USA and on YouTube internationally.
The winner of Semifinal Round B will play the San Francisco Firebells. San Fran won the Semifinal Round A by taking game one 6–4 and game two 9–6.
