After a narrow loss that saw Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris get swept in swing states, Ms. Harris took a swipe at President Trump in her first speech back as an outsider looking in. The former vice-president spoke at Emerge's 20th anniversary gala.

In short, what she said was President Trump is doing what presidents always do. That is, attempting to enact their vision.

Let's review:

She said. "I'll leave to others to give a full accounting of what has happened so far." But then gave a full accounting, more or less, which is good because it provided me with content. So I thank her for deciding not to do what she said she would do.

She said: Mr. Trump has 'an agenda [of] a narrow, self-serving vision of America." True or not, the U.S. voting public chose that over her agenda. hmm.....so, if his is bad, and you lost to him, doesn't that make yours worse? At the very least, it must mean you were so uninspiring that even your great agenda wasn't good enough to get past the fact that you can't get out the vote.

She said that Mr. Trump's tariffs are creating the "greatest manmade economic crisis in modern presidential history." "manmade?" Isn't her party the party of gender neutrality? Shouldn't that be people-made? Or is it person-made? It's hard to keep up with the latest unoffensive terminology.

She said, "What we are in fact witnessing is a high-velocity event. Where a vessel is being used for the swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making." How can it be swift yet decades in the making?

Decades? Okay, let's take 20 years. Twelve of those, 60%, a Democrat held the presidency. Mr. Obama for eight years and Mr. Biden for four. So, were they in on the agenda's swift implementation? Or simply ineffective to stop it?

She said: "Mr. Trump's agenda is "to slash public education...shrink government and then to privatize its services, all while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest among us." She got this right, and it's music to my liberty-minded ears. Cut everything, big government is bad government. Tax breaks to any and all are always welcome as near all taxes are theft.

She said: "Right now, we are living in their vision for America." Of course, Mr. Trump won; what else would it be? Maybe she needed filler and threw this in.

She said, "It is not okay to detain and to disappear American citizens or anyone without due process." Um, partially. 100% on the U.S. citizen part, full stop. Why should our privileges as U.S. citizens extend to non-citizens?

She said, "If Congress fails to do its part, or if the courts fail to do their part, or if both do their part, but the president defies them anyway. Well, friends, that is called a constitutional crisis."

Was it a constitutional crisis when President Biden defied the Supreme Court regarding student loans? Further, what does she mean by, if Congress fails to do its part? Congress is Republican-heavy. Isn't it their part to side with Trump and his agenda? That's how the game is played.

Also, neither Congress nor the President are under any obligation to follow Supreme Court decisions.

At one point in her 16+ minute speech on April 30, she gave props to Democrats who are pushing back, for that I say yes, yes, and yes. The push and pull between the two parties is what makes our sorta democracy sorta palatable.
