Joe Hannoush Libertarian Seeks U.S. House of Rep Seat

Updated: Feb 8, 2022

It is my belief that We The People should have more than two choices come election time. Let's face it, in some elections, one of the two parties is so dominate the voter only has one choice. The reasons for this won't be discussed here. I am not about the controversy. I am about getting the facts out.

The Libertarian Party is the strongest of the third parties.

Mr. Joe Hannoush (HU-noosh) is in the process of getting the required number of signatures to run for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives as a libertarian

This will be his first attempt at the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Hannoush has also run for the Florida House of Representatives, District 25, in 2018 and 2020.

Florida is currently redistricting, meaning the exact Volusia County district Mr. Hannoush is running in has yet to be determined.

Joe Hannoush’s parents came to the United States of America to find a better way of life. "My parents have a lot to do with my views on a variety of issues," Mr. Hannoush said via Facebook messenger. "First, both of them are immigrants. They left their home country to find a life of freedom and escape a tyrannical dictatorship."

Why do you want to run

Unfortunately, we have elected politicians for too long at all levels of government that forgot they work to serve the people.

Issues

I favor a fair tax approach and elimination of the income tax which adds enormous headaches and sways focus away from the primary responsibilities of running a small, mom & pop business for individuals trying to make a living for themselves.

We must also end the endless wars which create refugees which then require asylum and foreign government aid.

I am for an immigration process that allows good, hard-working people to come to the land of opportunity to help build a better life for their children while also adding value to this country by being examples of the American dream. That dream comes at high risk and I’ve seen firsthand the ups & downs of folks trying to make a better life for themselves.

We must reduce government red tape and other obstacles which complicate entrepreneurship.

I feel strongly about, and will be my focus in D.C. is insisting on a balanced budget. It is simply not right to subsidize our wants today at a cost to be added onto the backs of future generations of Americans. If every American household must balance our budgets, so should the federal government.

We also need to keep peaceful people outside of prisons and with their families. That is why I favor descheduling and decriminalization of cannabis at the federal level and expungement of records retroactively for victimless actions.

As an elected official, I will also remember my Oath of Office ‘…I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…’. That means repealing the Patriot Act which allows spying on American citizens, and repealing of all infringements on the 2nd Amendment.

Term limits so we don’t get career politicians that are out of touch with everyday Americans.

Ending our involvement in foreign civil wars. If we get attacked, we attack back. But we should do so in accordance with the constitution. In the end it’s young American blood that will be spilled. I will be mindful of that fact when it comes time to make a decision on whether war is necessary.”

Biggest success

My biggest political success is the sum of tens of thousands of conversations I’ve had with voters during campaigning. Asking them what the issue they feel most needs to improve (top response: “everything”). I often tell voters that if I could have a 5-10 minute conversation with every voter in the district I’d win the election.

How do you spend your down time

What down time?? Lol. If I’m not working, sleeping, eating or attending local civic meetings, then I’m engaging with voters and collecting petitions to qualify for the ballot. I don’t think I’ve sincerely said the words “I’m bored” in about five or so years!”

Is there anything else you want us to know about you or your campaign

Yes. I want every voter to know that I want you to hold me accountable if I’m elected. The thing about politics I hate the most is the hypocrisy. When candidates campaign on one thing then vote the opposite. I want voters to know - whether they disagree with me or not - they will get a representative that actually votes for what they said they will do. That’s me.

If any voter in Florida wishes for me to get a chance at that, then please fill out a petition to get me on the ballot. Email me at JoeHannoush@gmail.com and I can send petitions to print out and mailing address to mail to.

If you happen to see a tall guy with dark hair and a bright gold-colored shirt with a clipboard in his hand, (Editors note: I have seen Mr. Hannoush on many occasions in front of the library. collecting signatures and talking to voters.) you can ask me in person I have until early May to get petitions turned in to be verified to qualify. Thank you.
